The people are awesome and I learned a lot about PR. Lots of telephone work, but that it was still enjoyable. Equal amount of time spent e-mailing editors and researching companies - all very interesting. Would recommend this internshiop to anyone seriously ineterested in marketing. In addition, MGR has been around for a long time and looks good on resume.

I loved my internship at McNeil, Gray and Rice. I learned a tremendous amount about public relations and was given the opportunity to work with exceptionally talented public relations executives. Due to my extremely positive experience at MGR, I have decided that public relaitons is definately my career choice. The Agency produces top quality work and results. I feel very prepared to begin an exciting career. Thank you McNeil, Gray & Rice!

There is no doubt in my mind that any positive things floating around about this company were written internally. The place is a complete joke. There exists no middle management, just some bossy 20-somethings who will tell you "tough luck" if you come to them with an issue. I worked there briefly as an account rep and I've never worked in a worse environment (and I spent a summer in college stuffing envelopes).

Should you blindly get sucked into working here (don't say I didn't warn you), they ask that you sign a two-year agreement. (And the last time I checked, employment contracts such as these are illegal in MA). I should have run when I had the chance. Honestly- don't intern here. The experience you'll get won't help you in the real world unless you're looking to become a telemarketer. And the rest of the office will treat you like you're an idiot. (You'd think they wouldn't, since you're all on a sinking ship together, but misery loves company, I guess). report abuse

I have worked at three top public relations agencies. MGR is definately my best experience yet. I was given the opoprtunity to write press releases and work with the media. The expereince I gained was invaluable. I definately took iniative and was recognized for my work. My managers provided me with outstanding direction and feedback.

NO ONE would ever give this company good reviews. I cold-called company CEOs all day long from a tiny room on outdated telephones and computers. The management, especially an unnamed, chainsmoking, male "new business manager" who is a complete idiot, provided an extremely hostile working environment where we were "punished" for not getting enough CEOs to agree to an "educational seminar."
I distinctly remember my end-of-coop review when the other two interns and I were told "if you were real employees, you would have been fired by now, but we just need people like you to do the phone calls."
AVOID WORKING HERE
